Auxins and gibberalins are two important plant hormones in promoting growth and development in plants.
Auxins have an essential role in coordination of many growth and behavioural processes in the plant life cycle. One of the functions of auxins is to promote cell elongation which leads to the growth of roots down into the soil. They can also be used to promote uniform flowering, to promote fruit set, and to prevent premature fruit drop. However, auxins at high concentration will inhibit the growth.
Gibberalins are plant hormones that regulate growth and influence various developmental processes will only affect stem elongation in dwarf plants but not in normal plants.
This experiment was done to observe the effect of auxins on the growth roots.

24 plants were selected with the roots removed.Six plants were placed into each labeled vial containing distilled water,0.2 mg/L IBA,0.4 mg/L IBA and 1 mg/L IBA.The vials were wrap up with aluminium foil to avoid exposure to light. The vials were kept at room temperature for one week. The number of roots developed from each plant were observed and counted after one week. The IBA concentration does affect root growth as the number of roots differs in all four vials.

The unfortunate plants

The vial looks so cute after wraping it with aluminium foil^^

Tadaa!! :D
